With the heist hit of the year, we saw the "Ocean's" franchise back on the big screen - this time with a bad-ass all-female cast. With the successes of the first three movies, it's not so surprising that "Ocean's Eight" is an audience favourite of 2018.
Steven Soderbergh directed the trilogy, with Gary Ross taking over to direct this action-packed spin-off. This time, it's Danny Ocean's estranged sister at the helm and she plans to pull off the most audacious diamond heist ever and she assembles an elite team to put the plan in motion. Here's a run-down of the crew:
Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock)
The mastermind behind the heist, Debbie is Danny Ocean's estranged younger sister. She has the same cunning and wit as her brother and has been plotting this heist down to the finest detail during her 5 years in prison. When asked by Lou why she needs to do this, her response is "Because I'm good at it". Enough said.
Lou (Cate Blanchett)
Debbie's best friend and partner in crime (literally), Lou signs up to help recruit the best heist team in the world. She's a wise-cracking, leather pants wearing bar owner who doesn't take much convincing to step into the criminal world again with her bestie. Fun fact - the role of Lou was written specifically with Cate Blanchett in mind.
Nine Ball (Rihanna)
An expert hacker, Nine Ball is recruited to break into the security system of the Met Gala. Her work enables the rest of the team to slip in and out unseen - without her there is no way they could pull it off. She's cool, chilled out and bad-ass - much like Rihanna herself!
Amita (Mindy Kaling)
Amita is a jewellery maker who's enlisted to turn a Cartier diamond necklace into different pieces for the heist. The shyest of the group, Amita is somewhat bewildered that she gets the chance to be part of something like this. Behind her unassuming personality lies a natural born con-artist.
Tammy (Sarah Paulson)
A stay at home Mom with a criminal past and a garage full of stolen goods, Tammy is an old friend of Debbie's. Taking on a job at Vogue, she convinces her boss to hire extra staff - thus giving her team access to the Gala. Initially reluctant, she proves she's an integral member of the team with her incredible skills of persuasion.
Constance is the comedian of the group and her skills as a lightening quick pick-pocket get her a spot on the heist team. She's a hustler from Queens who dreams of a better life. Her sleight-of-hand skills and her sharp wit are destined to make her dream come true.
Rose (Helena Bonham Carter)
A fashion designer who has fallen from grace, Rose is given the task of designing starlet Daphne Kluger's gown - and as result she gains access to the Met. Rose is an eccentric, overly-dramatic artist, who not only gets a financial cut from the job, she also gets a much-needed boost to her career.
Daphne (Anne Hathaway)
Daphne is the Hollywood it-girl of the moment. She is a huge part of the team and wears the $150 million Cartier necklace - which is key to the heist - to the Met. Throughout most of the film, she appears to be your typical vain, self-obsessed actress who hasn't a clue what's going on around her - but looks can be deceiving...
