Akinmolayan's Frogeck Trailer Released
We announced the exciting news last month that Niyi Akinmolayan has been working on his very first animated feature film.  Well, we promised we'd keep you posted - the trailer for Frogeck has now been released!

Akinmolayan is the founder of Anthill Studios and has over a decade of experience in the film industry.  He began as a graphic designer and apprenticed with Nollywood filmmakers at the start of his career.  He started Anthill Studios as he felt there was a gap in Nollywood for expressing creativity.

He released the animated short Plaything in 2016 and followed this with his animated series Adventures of Lola and Chuchu the year after.  Frogeck will be his first animated feature film and is set to be in cinemas at the end of next year.  The movie is all about a cute little alien who mistakenly lands in Ibadan.  After three orphans find him, he helps them overthrow the horrible orphanage owner - but will he be able to find his way home?

What do you think of the trailer of Frogeck?  Do think animation is the next big thing in Nollywood?  Let us know in the comments!

Teaser of Star-Studded Power of 1
Izu Ojukwu has often been dubbed the 'Nigerian Spielberg'.  Sitanda earned him the AMAA for Best Director back in 2007 and since then he has consistently created high quality, thought-provoking movies - 76, Remember Me, and Amina - Queen of Zazzau to name but a few.

It's no surprise, then, that the trailer for his current project Power of 1  is slick and packed full of Nollywood heavy hitters.  Ramsey Nouah, Alexx Ekubo, Annie Idibia, and Bimbo Manuel will star in Power of 1, which was produced by Buckwyld Network.

Perhaps you can guess from the title - Power of 1 shows how the power of one individual can affect change for the entire country.  In fact, Buckwyld Productions stated that with the movie, they want to encourage Nigerians to stand up for what they believe in and to "reawaken civic responsibility".

This looks to be another hit from Izu OjukwuPower of 1  will be in select cinemas across Nigeria from December 7.

Oloture Begins Filming
Mo Abudu seems to be a film-making machine! Chief Daddy will be released next month and EbonyLife's current project, Oloture has commenced filming.  Every other month there seems to be something new from Abudu's network EbonyLife and this one seems set to be yet another success.

Among the stars in Oloture are Lala Akindoju, Adah Ameh, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Segun Arinze and Omowunmi Dada, with Kenneth Gyang ("Confusion Na Wa", "Blood and Henna") directing.

It's still in the production stages, but here is the short synopsis:
"Trapped on a terrifying journey, she sacrifices everything to expose the truth."
We're intrigued!

Hollywood
Breaking Bad TV Show in the Works
Bryan Cranston has confirmed that one of the most popular TV shows in the history of TV shows - "Breaking Bad" - will be made into a movie!  Rumours have been swirling for a while now about this, but now we know that the creator of the show, Vince Gilligan, will begin production of the movie later this month.

The TV series went on for 5 seasons, keeping fans gripped throughout and at a loss for what to do when it ended.  The story follows a high school chemistry teacher, Walter White, who, when diagnosed with lung cancer, turns to making meth to make sure his family is financially secure when he dies.  No spoiler alerts here, but needless to say, things go downhill fast from there!

The most recent snippet of news is that the story follows Jesse's life (Walter's high school drop-out partner in crime) after the horrifying final episode.  For those who watched the show, you know what we're talking about (boy, was it rough!) - for those who didn't, what are you waiting for?!

The movie is currently titled Greenbrier - we'll keep you updated with any fresh news as usual!

Spike Lee to direct Frederick Douglass Now
Spike Lee's next project is the story of a pivotal figure in US history.  Based on a one-man stage show, Frederick Douglass Now follows the life of Frederick Douglass who freed himself from slavery, became a publisher, was a ground-breaking feminist, and pled for the abolition of slavery before Abraham Lincoln.

Roger Guenveur Smith, the creator and actor in the one-man show, combined rapping, quoting from Douglass' writing and singing in his performance.  Lee will have the jazz artist Branford Marsalis on board for the movie, as well as the composer Marc Anthony Thompson.

Smith will be interviewing Lee about the movie at the Los Cabos Film festival in Mexico this week where Lee is a guest of honour and will be recognised for his extraordinary contribution to filmmaking.  We're always excited to see another Spike Lee project - his most recent movie BlacKkKlansman was fantastic - and he always brings something fresh to the table.

Nobody's Fool- The First Week in Cinemas
Tyler Perry's latest project, Nobody's Fool  hit cinemas last week.
The jury's out with this one - critics have slammed this movie, some only giving it a measly one star.  However, audiences seem be enjoying Tiffany Haddish's performance as the snobby control-freak perfectionist who has to learn to let go a little when her sister (the complete opposite of her) moves in.

In box-office terms, Nobody's Fool earned a fairly average $14 million - actually this is a little disappointing considering it is a Tyler Perry project and starring alongside Haddish are Whoopi Goldberg, Tika Sumpter and Omari Hardwick.  Perhaps it's due to the fact that this is Tyler Perry's first rated R movie?  Only time will tell - perhaps it will gain momentum or maybe this is simply just an average movie?

What about you guys? Have you seen "Nobody's Fool"?  We'd love to hear your thoughts - let us know what you think in the comments!
