AFRIFF 2018 is Almost Here!
The 8th African International Film Festival will be held from November 11-18 in various locations around Lagos.
This exciting event brings together filmmakers, actors, and artists as well as showcases talent in the movie industry from all over the world.
Founder of AFRIFF, Chioma Ude, has announced that the theme this year is 'The many Faces of Women', saying that this topic is " a visual portrayal of women in cinema that raises discussions on a central question 'What is Woman?' "
Many of the films are either directed by women or have women as their main protagonists.
140 titles - 31 of which are Nigerian - will be screened at this year's festival, ranging from shorts and animation to documentaries and student projects.
The movie is based on true events - the infamous trial in 1969, where 7 men were charged with conspiracy against the government.
Redmayne will (hopefully) be playing Tom Hayden, a civil rights and anti-war activist who co-founded the Students for a Democratic Society. He was one of the 7 fated men who stood trial. Also in talks with Amblin Entertainment is Sacha Baron Cohen who, like Redmayne, has shown himself to be incredibly versatile in his roles.
Who else would you like to star in this flick? We'll keep you updated as always!
McConaughey plays Baker Dill, a fisherman who's living the simple life...until his ex-wife (Hathaway) turns up asking for help. In an abusive relationship with seemingly no-one else to turn to, she pleads with Bill to help her get rid of her partner - for good. The more involved he becomes with his wife again, the more his past comes back to haunt him.
