Nollywood
2nd Trailer for "4th Republic" Released
The first trailer for upcoming political thriller, "4th Republic", starring Kate Henshaw, was released a month ago.  Now, Amateurhead Studios has treated us with second peek at what to expect from the movie.

We wrote about "4th Republic" here at Freshly Fried when that first trailer came out and the excitement has been building ever since.  This movie seems to have everything. Edge-of-your-seat suspense?  Check.  Plot twists and turns?  Check.  All-star Nollywood cast? Check, check, and check!

When speaking about "4th Republic", director Ishayo Bako said "4th Republic explores the dynamics of politics in Nigeria today.  There is a multitude of factors at play; the violence that mars our polls, the new trend of fighting for justice at the tribunals and the roles we as a society assign to women who aspire to powerful positions.”
It seems this will be more than just an entertaining movie and will also explore and highlight current social and political issues going on in Nigeria today.

Nollywood Movies to Check out Today
Today's your lucky day Nollywood fans!  Today we have 5 - count 'em, 5! -  Nollywood movies freshly released in a cinema near you!

First of all we have "Guyn Man", a heartwarming rom-com which asks the question - can best friends be in love and not know it?  Starring Ireti Doyle, Ben Lugo Touitou, Jimmy Odukoya and Adunni Ade, this movie will tug at your heartstrings and make you chuckle throughout.

ChinneyLove Eze's latest movie, "Hire a Woman" had a fabulous pre-release party last week with a star-studded guest list.  The plot is still being tightly held under wraps - so far all producer Eze is saying is that this movie is totally different from last year's "Hire a Man", with a unique storyline full of romance.  Intriguing!

Next up: Toyin Abraham and Odunlade Adekola star in "Nimbe", a drama which tells the dark story of drug addiction and how it affects the lives of everyone surrounding it.  Co-starring Chimezie Imo and Rachael Okonkwo, this gritty movie is a moving portrayal of an issue which sadly affects many today.

"Stones", starring Toyin Afolayan, Toni Tones, Maureen Okpoko and May Owen is a thrilling crime drama.
The story follows three hustlers trying their best to get out of a very sticky situation.  Deceit, imprisonment, and payback - sounds like a winner!

Finally, check out "The King's Cross", a romantic drama all about a Nigerian Prince torn between tradition and his heart.  The rules say he can't marry till he's King-  but what about the love of his life?  Is he supposed to turn his back on her in order to be accepted by society?

Hollywood
Jordan Peele's "Us" is a Box Office Hit
In 2016, Jordan Peele made his solo directorial debut with "Get Out", a horror which blew everyone away.  "Get Out" won multiple awards, including an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, changing the way we view horror films by pushing creative boundaries and showing us that this often overlooked genre can be sophisticated and thought-provoking.

Peele's latest movie, "Us" is also a horror and excitement has been building for months, with the director posting "Us" fan artwork on social media and, of course,  the terrifying trailer giving us a glimpse of what to expect.
"Us" was released last week in the States raked in an impressive $70.2 million - double what was predicted - and shows Peele is definitely more than a one hit wonder when it comes to directing.

Here's the official synopsis for "Us":
Accompanied by her husband, son and daughter, Adelaide Wilson returns to the beachfront home where she grew up as a child. Haunted by a traumatic experience from the past, Adelaide grows increasingly concerned that something bad is going to happen. Her worst fears soon become a reality when four masked strangers descend upon the house, forcing the Wilsons into a fight for survival. When the masks come off, the family is horrified to learn that each attacker takes the appearance of one of them.

Do you dare to see "Us"?  It's released in cinemas today, so what are you waiting for?! Check it out and send us your reviews!

Michael B. Jordan's Intriguing Next Role
Considering the story of Methuselah, a biblical figure who lived to be 969 years old, the irony is not lost on anyone that the film inspired by the story has been in the making for over a decade.

Perhaps the addition of Michael B. Jordan will give this project a boost?  After all, the star killed it in "Black Panther" (just about stealing the limelight from Black Panther himself) and revived the Rocky franchise with his awesome performances in both "Creed" and "Creed II."

Writer / director James Watkins is not strictly following the biblical side of the story and instead focusing on the plot line.  For those of you not in the know when it comes to the story of Methuselah, it is all about a man who, despite living for hundreds of years, shows zero signs of ageing.  Throughout his long life he has acquired knowledge and wisdom- not just intellectually, but also in terms of survival.

After several years of hearing rumours of this project, hopefully this latest version starring Michael B. Jordan is for certain.
Either way, you know where to come for any updates on this!

Fantastical New Brie Larson Movie
Captain Marvel is of course Brie Larson's most recognisable character nowadays, but the actress has appeared in her fair share of movies which are a far cry from superhero blockbusters.  From the quirky comedy "Trainwreck" to the suspenseful "Room", it seems Larson can play anyone once she sets her mind to it.

The recently released trailer for "Unicorn Store" is yet another example of Larson not conforming to what may be expected of her following the success of Captain Marvel.  Not only is Larson starring in this fantastical film, it is also her directorial debut.

"Unicorn Store" tells the story of Kit, who's found herself living with her parents once again after getting kicked out of art school.  The only work she can find is a horrifically dull temp job and Kit, a natural dreamer, resigns herself to a life of drudgery.
When she receives a mysterious invitation out of the blue, everything changes and it seems Kit will see her dreams come true.

Co-starring Samuel L. Jackson, "Unicorn Store" is set to be released on Netflix next Friday.  Let us know what you think of Brie Larson's directorial debut!
