"Mami Wata" Selected for LIM Film Lab
The Less is More Development Programme was formed to help films with a limited budget.  LIM recognises the fact that  limitations and restrictions can actually result in the most innovative work.

We've written about CJ 'Fiery' Obasi many times on Fried Plantains (check out our Nollywood Spotlight on the man himself) because he is one of the most creative Nigerian filmmakers today.
His film "Mami Wata" joins a list of just 16, selected from 336 participants from all over the world.  Among Obasi's other works are "O-Town", the award-winning "Hello, Rain" and "Ojuju" and writing for Genevieve Nnaji's "Lionheart".
No wonder he was named Trailblazer of the year at the 2015 AMVCAs!

LIM will be held this year in March, June, and October, across three countries. Find out more about the LIM Development Programme right here: LIM

"Code Wilo" Trailer Drops in Time for Elections
The general elections are to be held tomorrow, so there couldn't be a better time to catch a glimpse of upcoming political thriller "Code Wilo".

The film tells the story of a woman with political ambition who gets more than she bargained for when she fights for power. Now there's far more at stake and she runs the risk of losing everything, including her own life.
Gabriel Afolayan, Kalu IkeagwuZack Orji, Eucharia-Anunobi Ekwu and Bikiya Graham Douglas star in this tense drama which highlights the violence and unrest surrounding politics in Nigeria, especially on election day.

Chadwick Boseman Joins Spike Lee Joint
After the success of "BlacKkKlansman", we're excited to see that Spike Lee is working on another movie, which is set to begin filming this spring.

Titled "Da 5 Bloods", the film centres on a group of Vietnam veterans who embark on a journey back into the jungle that stole their innocence.
"Black Panther" star Chadwick Boseman is the latest to join the cast - so far, we know he's joining Hollywood legends Jean Reno and Delroy Lindo, so he's in very good company!

This year, Boseman will appear in  "Avengers: End Game" as Black Panther and the crime thriller "17 Bridges".

Octavia Spencer Delivers Again in "Ma" Trailer
We've seen director Tate Taylor and Octavia Spencer work together in "The Help" and "Get on Up".  Their next project together, "Ma" is a little different. "Ma" is a thriller and, judging by the trailer that just dropped, it's looks superbly creepy.

When loner Su Ann befriends a group of teens, they think they've hit the jackpot when she offers to let them party at her house whenever they want - and she'll provide the booze.  But things start to get dark with the arrangement and the house rules get more and more obsessive, turning what seemed like a dream come true into a horrifying nightmare.

Juliette Lewis, Luke Evans, Missi Pyle, Diana Silvers, McKaley Miller and Corey Fogelmanis. will star alongside Spencer in this edge-of-your-seat thriller.  Take a look at the trailer - if you dare!

"Tolkien" Teaser Drops
We're all familiar with J.R.R. Tolkien's work - his fantasy novels have captured the imagination of multiple generations, and led to the hugely successful "Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" film franchises.

When it comes to the man behind the writing, his life itself is a fascinating journey and certainly one to inspire just as much as his stories. The upcoming film "Tolkien",  starring Nicholas Hoult, tells the story of the author's life, from his childhood as an orphan, to forming a bond with fellow outcast schoolmates, whose 'fellowship' is threatened when World War I breaks out.

Lily CollinsGenevieve O'ReillyPam Ferris and Craig Roberts co-star in this fascinating true tale of friendship, loss and adventure.  What do you think of the trailer? Let us know in the comments!
