Her first film, "Treacherous Heart", was received positively both in Nigeria and Canada.
Toyin Abraham, who will be starring in the movie, has promised that "2 Weeks in Lagos" will show her in a "different light". She went on to say, "I am a regular girl in this movie. I can't believe I'm calm!".
Last weekend, at the Zuma Film Festival held last year in Abuja, the talented Femi Odugbemi received the Rock of Fame Award.
Odugbemi was chosen for his considerable contribution to the growth of the Nigerian film industry and the award places Odugbemi alongside Professor Hyginius Ekwuazi, the late first Prime Minister of Nigeria, Alhaji Tafawa Balewa, Chief Chika Okpala, and Mallam Ali Nuhu.
In his inspiring speech when receiving the award, Odugbemi focused on the need to focus on story-telling, also saying that "Our stories should not only entertain but also inform and inspire. Filmmaking is a powerful tool which most of us are yet to fully grasp. Nollywood can and should be the most powerful voice of the black race.”
It's been a successful year for Odugbemi - he has also been chosen to join the panel of judges for the 2019 Oscars, coming up in February.
Congratulations Femi Odugbemi, we're looking forward to seeing what's next!
"King of Boys" earns N200m!
Kemi Adetiba has announced her joy that her most recent movie, "King of Boys" has grossed N200m in seven weeks. This makes it the fourth highest grossing Nigerian movie of all time. What's more, the movie has been in the top spot for those 7 weeks in cinemas!
We know Adetiba is talented - she also directed "The Wedding Party", so that says it all - so it's great to see all her hard work paying off once again. Sola Sobowale has said Adetiba expects her cast to work just as hard as she does - but it is this perfectionism which makes great movies. As Sobowale says, "Kemi is a slave driver but thank God. She would say to me do you want to look bad on that screen at the end of the day, everything I am doing is for you to look good and we thank God for the result..."
Have you seen "King of Boys"? What did you think? Let us know in the comments!
"Playmobil" Vs Lego!
Following the wildly popular LEGO movies, "Playmobil: The Movie" will be hitting the big screen next year. The premise of "Playmobil: The Movie" will be similar to the LEGO ones - with adventures through various wild and wonderful landscapes - but this time, two children have been sucked into the Playmobil world and are now action figures!
It's being promoted as a rival to the LEGO movies - what do you think, will it stack up?
We've got a while to find out, as "Playmobil: The Movie" won't be in cinemas until next August, but here's the trailer for a sneak peek!
Oscars Replacing Kevin Hart as Host
We were excited to announce last week that Kevin Hart had been chosen to host the 2019 Oscars. However, after inappropriate tweets from 8 years ago, which were written by the comedian, resurfaced, he decided to step down.
Now, rumours are swirling as to who will take Hart's place behind the podium. In fact, it's been said that the Oscars are considering no host at all, instead having a group of different people hosting the awards.
Despite this, several celebs have voiced their picks - among the favourites are Eddie Murphy, Ricky Gervais, Ryan Reynolds, and Cher!
Who would you choose as the perfect host for the 2019 Oscars?
