Dwayne Johnson Superhero Movie Underway
We heard a while ago that Dwayne Johnson would (finally!) be playing a superhero. Initially, it was reported that Johnson's character, Black Adam, would appear in next year's "Shazam!" - Shazam! being Black Adam's arch-nemesis. The decision was then made to give each superhero their own movie - great news, as this means we get to enjoy both "Shazam!", plus Johnson's starring role in his own superhero flick!
Johnson is one of the most popular actors in Hollywood today and if he's in a movie, it's pretty much guaranteed to be a box-office smash. Just take a look at "Rampage", "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" and "Skyscraper" and you'll get the idea.
So who is Black Adam? A former slave who freed himself and his people, he is intent on seeing that justice is served. He is often seen as an anti-hero rather than superhero and has more of an edge and a gruffness to him than Johnson's normally affable, endearing roles.
Currently, there is no release date for the movie, but the script is being written right now. "Shazam!" will be in cinemas next year, from April 5.

Wile-E Coyote Will Star in His Own Movie
The famous Looney Tunes character, Wile E. Coyote is to become a movie star! Warner Bros. has confirmed that the animated movie will be titled "Coyote vs. Acme" and the talented director of "The LEGO Batman Movie", Chris McKay, is to direct. Writing the script will be the brothers Jon and Josh Silberman, who worked on the acclaimed crime series "Bordertown" and the gut-wrenchingly funny "It's Always Sunny in Philadephia".
We all know Wile E. Coyote's never-ending chase of the elusive Road Runner. Using explosives, hammers, and constructing traps (from Acme) his attempts to trap Road Runner always fail - and what's more, Coyote's the one who gets blown up, hit or caught in his own trap.
The fact that WB is bringing Wile E. Coyote to the big screen is pretty exciting - if it's successful, the possibilities are endless! Unfortunately we will have a couple of years before we see "Coyote vs. Acme" as it is at the very beginning of production.
Stay (Looney) tuned for more updates!

Simi Lands First Acting Role
Not only has the young singer, Simi, got a part in a movie, but she will be directed by Nollywood powerhouse Kunle Afolayan! Simi has already made a name for herself in the music industry, winning multiple awards in recognition of her talent.
Her movie debut will be "Mokalik", and she joins an impressive cast, including Femi Adebayo, Faithia Williams, Ayo Adesanya and Lateef Oladimeji. "Mokalik" follows the story of a young, middle-class boy who is an apprentice for a day at a mechanic's to see what life is like for less privileged people.
Simi is to play the daughter of a cafeteria owner in the movie - a central character, according to Afolayan. Currently still in production, we don't yet know the release date of "Mokalik", but as usual we'll keep you posted!
Watch Trailer for Genevieve Nnaji's Directorial Debut
Genevieve Nnaji's "Lionheart" tackles the issues of sexism in the workplace, being an independent woman in this day and age and the tricky business of working with family.
"Lionheart" will be screened for the first time at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7. With this witty, tongue-in-cheek commentary on what it is to be a woman in male dominated world, Nnaji aims to express her creativity, especially in the world of storytelling.
As well directing, Nnaji will star, alongside Nkem Owoh, Pete Edochie and Onyeka Onwenu. Nnaji's character, Adaeze, is set to take the reigns of the family company when her father falls ill. However, her unusual uncle has now been assigned to co-run the business with her. When the realisation hits that the business has serious financial issues, the two must work together, despite their differences, to save the day.
As yet, we don't have a Nigeria release date for "Lionheart", but check out the trailer and let us know what you think!
